Blast of the Iron Palm (Se diu ying hung juen saam jaap, 1979)
(IMDB listing)
A disappointment for a movie featuring Alexander Fu Sheng (mrrrowl) and Ti Lung. It's almost entirely serious so we don't get to see Fu Sheng having any real fun. It's slow going, without much kung fu of note until the last 20 minutes. Pretty much your generic revenge story, with a brother (Fu Sheng) and sister going to find an abbot to cure her illness, then getting wrapped up in helping the abbott avoid the wrath of a vengueful white-haired lady. Not really worth seeking out, except if you're a Fu Sheng fanatic. It's also surprisingly slash-free for a Shaw Brothers movie.
SUMMARY:
Overall rating: C Doesn't really get going until the end. Yawn!
Droolworthiness: B Fu Sheng being in it automatically gives it a B.
Slashiness: D Nothing of note.
Action: B for the end, which does feature SOME nice fighting, though it's still not THAT great.
