Fantasy Mission Force (Mai nei dak gung dui, 1984)
This movie SO deserves the Mystery Science Theater 3000 treatment. It's like a really bad acid trip. It's...indescribably bad, and if you like that kind of thing, you may very well enjoy it. Or you may (like me) find yourself amused for about 20 minutes, then decide it's so unbearably bad it's not even funny.
The plot has something to do with missing generals during World War II, a commando unit led by Jimmy Wang Yu out to rescue them, and Jackie Chan keeps popping in and out of the story as a sort of petty conman...or is he the hero of the story after all? Plus there's a haunted house, Amazons, and Nazis driving around in 70s cars. I really don't know what to say about it all! Bridget Lin almost steals the show, trying to add some glimmer of dignity and sexiness to the proceedings.
SUMMARY:
Overall rating: F, unless you're a fan of the worst kind of trash cinema out there, in which case you may very well love it to pieces.
Droolworthiness: Well, Jackie and Bridget Lin are hot, but the rest of the cast is fairly ugly, so let's give it a B.
Slashiness: F Ew! Don't even want to think about it!
Action: C The Jackie vs. the Amazons scene isn't TOO bad, and there's an OK (if not great) finale fight with Jackie vs. Wang Yu.
