It's Shaw Brothers. You can't go wrong with Shaw Brothers. This is a goofy little film about three conmen and a Ming patriot who enlists their help in whooping some Mongol butt and stealing some Mongol treasures. You'll forget about any need for a plot as soon as you see these guys all on screen together. Someone run me a cold shower, please. Alexander Fu Sheng, David Chiang and the rest of them are all too hot to believe!
So yeah, it's a Shaw Brothers flick, meaning you'll get some groovy 70s music to go with the very groovy, stylish action. There are a number of good, imaginative kung fu scenes, as well as a lot of nice scenes of the boys travelling around together. You can certainly imagine some slashy possibilities between them all, and there's nary a woman in sight the whole film.
I liked it a lot. Old school fun at its best.
