The New One-Armed Swordman (San duk bei do, 1972)

Chang Cheh "remaking" (in a way) the classic Wang Yu one-armed swordman movie, this time with David Chiang in the lead role. David, not one of my favorites, is quite good here though, in a pouty, angsty way. Plus he brightens up considerably (who wouldn't?) when Ti Lung hits the screen. Lots of slashy looks and moments; "what a guy..." Ti Lung even sighs after David at one point. Aw... A good, fairly engaging story.

SUMMARY:

Overall rating: B It's not the best movie out there, but certainly an enjoyable diversion for an afternoon.

Droolworthiness: A- Ti Lung is lovely, just doesn't show that beautiful body nearly enough!

Slashiness: A- Those looks, those hugs...sigh!

Action: B Decent if not knock-your-socks-off swordplay.
